User interaction for text editing
The Text and Frame Handles viewpreferences panels contain a series of options to determine the behavior and handling
of (text)frames when editing stories.
Text View Preferences panel:
- Select Text of new frames : enables editing mode when a new frame is created
- Use text cursor by default : switches to text-editing tool when hovering over a text frame
- Render texts during manual resize/move actions :
- Show Hidden Characters : shows hidden story editor characters
- Show Missing Characters (Font) : indicates where missing font characters are placed
- Create Bullet Lists :
- Superscript Ordinals :
- View source on variable frames : shows source text of variables
- Show tab ruler : shows inline text tab ruler above frame
- Default placeholder text : standard Lorem ipsum for dummy text
- Apply placeholder on new frames : fills new text frames with placeholder text
Frame handles View preferences panel:
- Arrow key increments : incremental stepsize when using the arrow keys to move frames
- Show move handle : shows the move handle at the top left frame corner, click on it to move the frame.
- Show move handle during text edit : shows the move handle when in text editing mode.
- Transparent selection : selects underlying object when clicking an empty area of an object above it
