Data Managing
The CHILI Publish Data manager is a set of advanced tools designed to automate the conversion of InDesign tags and metadata to CHILI tags and variables. The options you set in the Data Manager are saved in the document and will affect the behavior of the CHILI Converter during the creation of the CHILI document.
Some examples of automation you can do with Data Manager are:
Automatically assign CHILI variables to image frames
Automatically assign a unique tag to each CHILI frame
Control the tag of the CHILI frames from InDesign
Automatically insert CHILI variables in text frames
The name assigned to CHILI tags and CHILI variables can be selected from various InDesign sources: XML tags, Script Labels, object IDs. If you are into InDesign scripting and automation, you can easily modify the InDesign document to control the result of the conversion (e.g. assign an XML tag to objects). If you use a third party plug-in in InDesign to tag and to organize the content, it will probably write metadata in some sections of InDesign that can be read by our Data Manager.
In most cases, the CHILI Publish Data Manager is intended to be used in conjunction with your custom plug-ins and/or automation tools, and should be transparent for the InDesign user. For this reason you must install and use the CHILI Data Manager panel separately from the CHILI Converter.
If your workflow is based on distributed inDesign templates, you can use the Data Manager to setup the conversion options, save them into the base InDesign document and distribute the template. The Data Manager settings will be kept into the InDesign template and will be recognized by the CHILI Converter eventually.
How to access the plugin?
