Intro
The CHILI publish Illustrator plugin can be localized to your language. By default, these languages are covered:
English
German
French
Dutch
Italian
You can add languages, and even update the wording used in your language.
Localization structure
The language text and messages of the Illustrator plug-in are loaded from a set of text files located in Converter/Locale.
On OSX | On Windows |
By default, the Locale folder contains the following files:
Languages.txt
en.txt
de.txt
fr.txt
nl.txt
it.txt
The Languages.txt file provide a list of languages in the form <CODE>=<DESCRIPTION> where code should be a valid language code, with the following default configuration:
Code Block |
---|
en=English
fr=Français
de=Deutsch
nl=Nederlands
it=Italiano |
This list is the source for the "Language" dropdown located in Preferences pane. When the plug-in language is set to "Default", Adobe Illustrator will try to use the language corresponding to the operating system language.
For each of the languages listed in Languages.txt, a language txt file must be present. Language file contains name/value lines for each plug-in string:
Code Block |
---|
SERVER_TAB=Server
PRESET=Preset
REMOVE=Remove
URL=Url
... |
How to add a language translation for the Illustrator plug-in
Add a line in Languages.txt (e.g. es=Spanish)
Copy en.txt and rename it to the required language (e.g. es.txt)
Translate the text in the new text file
Reload the plugin
...
Only translate the part after the “=” (equal sign). The part before the “=” sign, is the identifier we need for the application.
