Image Resources

Concept

Images can be added to a CHILI document in a variety of ways. They can be stored inside CHILI itself, or can come directly from an External application (such as a legacy DAM solution).

Most Panels used to assign images can be found in the "Resources" tab in the default WorkSpace.

DAM Feed

The DAM Feed Panel allows you to configure a Panel from which users can drop Images into a document.

The Panel contains a variety of Properties (accessible through the pencil on the top right), which influence how the images will be presented to the user. This allows you to set up Panels which:

  • Allow browsing and/or searching
  • Have a Directory tree for browsing, or just a list of images
  • Allow upload of new assets
  • ...

The browse dir. property is very important in this regard. It controls the initial directory for the images to be shown to the end user. In combination with "show subdirectories", it can also influence how the directory tree is shown (or not). If no sub-directories are found in the specified starting directory, the tree won't be shown either. Inside the browse directory property, you can use patterns which are replaced in the editing session depending on the user logged in to your portal.

External Assets

External Assets Panels are configured to connect to URLs (typically dynamic aspx, php, ... pages) which return XML in a format expected by CHILI Editor. See ?/wiki/spaces/CPDOC/pages/1412454 for more information.

The structure of the XML simulates the possibilities available in the DAM Feed Panel.

Xinet Feed

In combination with a connection to a Xinet Webnative Suite server (configured in the BackOffice under External Systems), the Xinet Feed Panel allows for images to be dragged into the CHILI document directly from a Xinet DAM solution.

Here as well, multiple properties are available for influencing the behavior of the Panel.

Selection in Editor

The various Panels are also accessible from:

  • The Image Setting Panel, for a selected Image Frame (usually only used by administrators)
  • Variable Input. In the Variable Settings, properties can be configured for the popup which is shown: Variable Settings
