Composed materials in 3D models

Concept

Via composed materials you can combine multiple CHILI Publisher documents in one 3D preview.
For example a 3D model of a booth for a tradeshow combining all the different signage and advertising documents, made  separately,  together in one view.

CHILI Publisher documents can also be combined with assets to enrich the preview of the final product. (f.e. the images on the computer screens)

Creating composed materials

The setup for composed materials can be reached via the "Materials" tab.
First you create a new material and specify "Composed" as Material Type. You can found out how to do that here: Creating a 3D model scheme

When a material has been assigned to a mesh in the 3D model config you will be able to position the material with the UV map (defined with the mesh in the 3D model) shown as a visual aid.
Slide the Preview/Edit slider to the "Edit" position and select the mesh you want to visualise in the dropdown. This is shown on the image below.
In the upper right corner you see the document being positioned on the t-shirt.

A material can contain multiple resources: assets, documents or a combination of both.
This is set up in the "Composed material properties" panel.

  • Width: Width of the "canvas" to postion the resources
  • Heigth:  Heigth of the "canvas" to postion the resources
  • Resources list:

    • use the + or x sign to add or remove a resource
    • via the arrow keys the Z-index of the documents and assets can be defined, the highest document in the list will be the top one in the combined view.

  • Resource path: Physical location of the resource
  • Unique name: Name of the resource (this needs to be unique)
  • Document id: (only for documents) Tag that allows to replace the document in the 3D view by the document which the end-user is editing.
  • X, Y: The position of the selected asset or document in the composed view
  • Scale: The scale of the selected asset or document in the composed view
  • Rotation: The rotation of the selected asset or document in the composed view
  • Page Number: Defines which page to show when a document or asset contains multiple pages.
  • Mask: A document or asset can have it's own mask defined. (more information about a mask can be found on this page: Creating a folding scheme)
