Custom BaseLine Grid Alignment

Frames can have their own baseline grid settings which can override the general document baseline.

Example of a frame with custom baseline enabled :

To use the custom baseline grid, select text in a frame with the type tool and go to :

Text tab > Paragraph Settings panel > Align To Baseline checkbox

then go to:

Text tab > Frame Custom Baseline Grid panel

and click Use Custom Grid, then several options appear in the panel :

Frame Custom Baseline Grid panel :

Start : sets position from where the grid tracks start to increment :

  • top of the page
  • top of the page margin
  • top of the frame
  • top of the frame inset

Offset :  adds an offset value to the start position

Increment : stepsize between each grid track

Show guides : makes the grid visible or invisible

The grid can also be shown from : Environment tab > View Preferences panel > Guides drop down > Show Frame Custom Baseline Grid
