Story Editor

Concept

Your usual way of working with text in Chili Publisher is done in the textframe, in a what-you-see-is-what-you-get fashion.
The story on screen appears in the final document, displaying all the applied formatting.
You also see the story in the context of other stories on the page, graphics, interactive elements etc.
Sometimes, for example when text is difficult to view or select, overset, or having erroneous formatting it’s useful to just focus on
the bare text of a story, without the distraction of any layout, and that’s what the Story Editor lets you do.

Editing in the Story Editor

To access your text in the story mode, click the Edit Story button in the toolbar or inline panel.

A new editor window opens containing your selected text.

Story Editor has three view modes:

  • pure text
  • text with hidden characters (checkbox Show hidden characters)
  • text with basic formatting (checkbox Edit with formatting)

The hidden characters can be visible in both text and formatting view.
